And isn't this the time of year when we gardeners are most optimistic about our gardens, with visions of grand borders and opulent containers like we've never had before. We make lists of plants that we saw while touring other gardens, or spied in a glorious gardening journal. And of course there are all the new introductions! Kniphofia 'Little Maid'--A compact little torch lily, at 2', with creamy yellow pokers in mid-late summer. Stachys byzantina 'the Phantom'--a variegated Lamb's ear with creamy yellow and pale grey-green softly textured foliage.
