General Information

Because of the nature of the mail order business, we have a $30.00 minimum on all orders, excluding postage. Packing and shipping plants is a very time-consuming process and shipping costs have risen steadily. It has taken us 3 years to realize we need to structure our shipping charges differently. (See below for your area) We will continue to ship to all destinations within the continental United States, but at this time we are unable to ship to Alaska , Hawaii, Puerto Rico or foreign countries.

We ship UPS GROUND for destinations in these states: (CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI & VT) Please add 20% of your order ($8.00 minimum) for shipping and handling.

We will ship UPS 3-Day select for all other states EXCEPT AZ, CA, FL OR & WA add 30% of the plant totals ($10.00 minimum) for shipping and handling.

We will ship UPS 3-Day Select to AZ CA FL OR & WA. Add 35% of the plant total ($15.00 minimum) These states require special inspections by the MA Agriculture Division and we need a two week advance notice.

We can also ship US Priority Mail if UPS does not deliver in your area.

We will ship UPS 2nd Day upon request and will quote you the cost of shipping your order.

PLEASE NOTE: UPS WILL NOT DELIVER TO A POST OFFICE BOX!!!

Our shipping season begins in late-March, weather permitting, and continues until Oct. 31st.

Ordering by Mail, FAX or E-mail

We regret due to the busy-ness of the spring season we will not be able to accept phone orders. You may send us your order via Mail or FAX (508-998-8819*51). We suggest you fax or E-mail (plants@avantgardensne.com) if you are concerned with availability.

Will-Call Orders There will be a 5% surcharge on Will-Call orders for the service of gathering and reserving your plants. The order must be paid in advance. We would prefer a 2 week notice and will need to schedule a pick-up date at the time of ordering.

Payment

We accept personal checks, money orders, Visa and MasterCard on orders that are mailed or faxed to us. If you have elected to order online, we will ask for your Visa or Mastercard #. Orders are charged upon receipt, and act as a hold on the plants we reserve for you. No order will be processed without advance payment. Please be sure to include the credit card number and expiration date on all charge orders. Massachusetts residents will be charged sales tax at the rate of 5%. Out-of-state shipments will not be charged sales tax. All orders picked up at the nursery, regardless of which state you reside in, are charged sales tax .

Please unpack and inspect your plants at once. We guarantee all of our plants to be true to name and healthy when they leave our nursery. Claims on damages incurred during transit should be made immediately and directly to the carrier. Save boxes and packaging should the carrier need to make an inspection. Please notify us in writing of any problems within 7 days of receipt of your order.

Gift Certificates

Gift certificates are available for $25.00 or more and will be accompanied by a catalog and gift card. See order form for details.

Nursery and Garden Visits

Let us begin by saying how much we enjoy sharing our gardens with visitors. These gardens are our trial beds and they are everchanging. We are always experimenting with new varieties and color schemes. It is stimulating to hear other gardener's comments and often we hear remarks on how a plant was over looked in the nursery yard only to be praised as the most impressive plant in the border. This is a reminder that the best education for a gardener is to visit other gardens!

We do allow nursery visitors access to our gardens during regular business hours. Please understand that this is our private residence as well, and we ask for this consideration. With advance notice we can provide guided tours (max. 30 people) for a reasonable fee. Garden Clubs may be interested to know that more detailed programs can also be arranged. And one last note, please ask before you begin taking photographs. We are usually most gracious when asked.
