What exactly is a "rock garden" or "alpine" plant, you may ask. You'll get many different interpretations from rock gardeners. Basically rock garden plants are wildflowers, usually of diminutive proportions, native to regions with higher elevations and poor sharply drained soil. They are sometimes challenging too grow in our fertile cultivated gardens, primarily because we're giving them to rich an environment.

Lewisia Cotyledon

Trough

We like to grow our minature "alpines" in hypertufa troughs, shallow natural looking containers we make here at the nursery. These containers provide us with the means to amend the right soil conditions for our rock garden gems and also to create "mini" landscapes where they can be viewed up close.
